Olive Lake

Shortly after leaving Radium we drove through the first of a few tunnels on this stretch of road. This was something different as I don’t believe there are any tunnels like this in our home state of Tasmania.

First of several tunnels

Not long down the road from the Radium Hot Springs we came across a lake next to the road. The lake was called Olive Lake, and while it was small it was still stunning to see it so close to the road. We stopped here to take some photos and enjoy the scenery. The lake had the same emerald coloured water from the glaciers melting over time. There we several photos taken in the morning light here. This was more of a gentle opening to the grandeur that awaited us at the end of the day.

It was here, at Olive Lake, that we encountered the “Russian Mafia family” for the first time. As we reached the waters edge from the car park they were sitting/standing around drinking something from large beer steins. They didn’t seem particularly approachable so we kept our distance.

Thanks for following my Blog. Beautiful and serene photos! If I was able to have more children (too old now) I SWEAR I would name him Colin Butterworth,. I LOVE your name! Sounds profoundly famous!

Wow, thank you, that is a very nice complement! I’m certainly not famous, not even close. It is interesting that some names just sound important. I personally don’t think mine does, but I am glad that you think it does. Thank you. 🙂
